This paper provides a structural analysis of poverty in Sierra Leone. The authors describe how the country has been continuously troubled by high poverty and large debt, despite of being rich in natural resources. The paper models the determinants of poverty in Sierra Leone based on the 2003 Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) and additionally provides an OLS regression model of poverty determinants in the country.
