This paper discusses US President George W Bush's 2002 nuclear position which has developed from a military posture of defense and deterrence to one of military expansion. The author argues that the US uses early Cold War arguments and is largely silent on international cooperation and negative on arms control. He suggests that a revised nuclear posture is needed by implementing an updated strategy for minimizing the demand for nuclear proliferation, a strategy for nuclear arms reductions and a policy basis for addressing the problem of nuclear terrorism.
