This paper discusses internal migration and how it could contribute to the reduction of poverty in Asia. The author argues that internal migration is likely to increase at a faster rate than international migration and that many sectors are benefiting from it, including agriculture, manufacturing, construction, coastal economies and services. The paper concludes that new policies must be implemented to secure the status of the migrant workers and ensure benefits are distributed evenly.
