Dec 2004

This paper details the political developments in Macedonia in 2004. The author explains that in the period since the end of the armed conflict in Macedonia in 2001 and the signature of the Ochrid Accords in August of that year, the political and security agenda has been dominated by the need to implement the Accords to ensure the survival and development of the state as a whole. The paper discusses the political impact of the failed opposition and referendum on the decentralization proposals in the Accords and generally examines the prospects for Macedonia's future development.
