This paper investigates perceptions of security, community safety and small arms and light weapons prevalence in Kosovo on the basis of data collected in December 2006, analyzing the role of different factors including income, age, ethnicity, gender and location. The survey focuses on four main areas: community safety and security, perceptions of conflict, perceptions of security providers and weapons possession and use. The paper finds that the degree to which perceptions of safety vary is dependent upon ethnic affiliation and socio-economic factors.
