This paper argues that Brexit increases the risk that important EU legal standards -which help protect rights in areas such personal privacy, worker and non-discrimination- will be diluted, amended or even repealed in the UK. The author stresses that these risks might never materialize. However, he also contends that human rights activists, and indeed anyone concerned with the protection of civil liberties in the UK, will need to be vigilant in the post-Brexit era to ensure the preservation of the respect for human rights.
