This commentary provides ten reasons why a British exit from the European Union is a bad idea. For example, 1) members of the leave campaign have failed to produce a serious plan that would effectively handle the economic and trade policy implications of secession; 2) in the case of British foreign and security policy, the hard-to-ignore international hostility to an exit is overwhelming; and 3) a Brexit could lead to the disintegration of the UK itself – i.e., it could trigger a second referendum on Scottish independence and possibly destabilize the fragile peace in Northern Ireland.
