Since its creation in 2011, the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) has finalized its legal arrangements, assigned different roles and responsibilities among the five founding members, and set up its facilities. In light of these steps, this paper tracks the historical development of the bank, investigates its nascent operations, and anticipates the likely impact it will have in development financing.
