This policy brief highlights how African law enforcement agencies and government security forces allegedly misuse electric shock equipment in ways that contravene international and continental anti-torture frameworks. The text’s author cites reported cases of such misuse in South Africa and provides recommendations on how the use of electric shock equipment could be curbed across Africa, along with prohibiting and preventing torture.
