This paper discusses US strategic challenges and policy choices in the Gulf region. The contributors explore the European point-of-view on US activities and initiatives in the Middle East and detail the growing differences between Europe and the United States over policy options relating to Israel, Iraq and Iran. The paper emphasizes the need of US policymakers to understand the European perspective, and vice-versa.
