This paper discusses the daily use of weapons during the genocide in Rwanda. The authors examine the availability, distribution and use of small arms and light weapons in several rural localities and identify the traditional and modern weapons used in the conflict. The paper concludes that small arms and light weapons were not used at random in the conflict and that because of popular participation in the genocide the use of traditional weapons was widespread.
