This paper discusses potential conflicts that might arise in the Caspian Basin as the exploitation of oil and gas resources interrelates with existing geopolitical and domestic tensions. The paper focuses on the emerging post-Soviet states Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan and also analyzes the role played by their Caspian neighbours Iran and Russia.
