The US Department of State is required by law to submit a yearly report to Congress on the efforts of foreign governments to eliminate severe forms of human trafficking. The 2006 report, which is the sixth, seeks to raise global awareness and spur foreign governments to take action to counter all forms of human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
