This paper examines the economic impact of a possible ban on organic fresh products in the UK and in countries supplying the UK by air. In particular, it focuses on Kenya and Ghana, the third and fifth most important supplying countries to the UK in terms of air freight. The authors introduce the standards and regulations on import of organic products, analyze UK imports in 2006 and assess the likely impact of an air freight ban. Finally, they discuss the impact on developing countries.
