This paper examines the UK Transport Bill and gives particular attention to its components dealing with road charging and workplace parking. The author details how Part III of the Transport Bill enables local traffic authorities outside of London to introduce road user charges and workplace parking levies to help tackle congestion and traffic jams. The paper also explains how the bill enables the secretary of state and the National Assembly for Wales to introduces charges on trunk roads in limited circumstances.
