This paper reviews the policy of the German 2007 EU presidency toward the Middle East, commenting on the continuing regional crisis. The paper discusses the evolution of the EU's role in the Middle East, introduces the priorities of the German presidency and examines several developments that occurred during the presidency, such as the re-animation of the Middle East Quartet and the end of the Palestinian unity government.
