This paper discusses the provisions of the UK Terrorism Bill, which is designed to amend and extend existing counterterrorism legislation in the UK. The bill seeks to put most of this legislation on a permanent, rather than a temporary, renewable basis and to extend it so that rather than being restricted to terrorism connected with the affairs of Northern Ireland and international terrorism, it will cover all terrorism, including domestic terrorism. The bill also sets out an updated definition of terrorism for the purpose of the exercise of the powers it contains.
