This briefing paper assesses the implications of Israel’s 2007 air operation over Syria. The author examines Syria's support for terrorism, its WMD efforts and its involvement in the Iraqi insurgency. The paper concludes that, given the pressures on the Assad regime, tensions along the Israeli-Syrian border are certain to continue.
