It describes the changing hopes and expectations toward the conference, discusses the politically instable domestic situation in Israel and the Palestinian territories and points to the long term challenge to engage in earnest final status talks. The author underlines the need for deeper Arab and Syrian involvement and stabilized Palestinian structures.
