This paper looks at the results and implications of Ukraine's September 2007 parliamentary elections. It outlines and analyzes the election results and identifies challenges for Ukraine's development, including political and economic reform, energy policy, corruption, social policy and national identity. Subsequently, the paper discusses the international impact of Ukraine's election with a focus on Russia and the West. The author finds that the Ukrainian state remains in flux and will require amendment in the medium term if transition is to be successful.
