This paper examines emerging human security narratives that focus on the protection of local populations, especially children. These narratives, the authors argue, require defense against the forced recruitment of child soldiers and center on the protection of generational agency. The paper advocates the mobilization of local and external communities to actively secure safe places for children to grow and develop as normally as possible.
