This book presents the findings of the research project "Political Islam and European Foreign Policy" that focus on the perception of the EU by moderate Islamists in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey. The book presents case studies on the development and policy of moderate Islamist parties for each of these countries, looks at Western policies toward Hamas and Hizbollah and identifies general findings. The paper concludes that it is time for the EU to undertake a review of its policies of virtual neglect of the broad grouping of "Muslim democrat" parties.
