This paper looks at the main items on the agenda of the Bucharest NATO summit scheduled for April 2008. The major issues and decisions facing the Alliance include its intervention in Afghanistan, response force, enlargement and global partnerships, relations with the EU and the reintegration of France as well as the development of a new strategic concept. According to the author, the Bucharest summit needs to confront fundamental issues that go beyond operational and tactical considerations.
