This paper stresses the need for reform of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The author argues that differences will remain among key players on the governance reform package and that the window of opportunity is narrow and closing fastly. The paper concludes that 2008 will present new challenges as the risk of an economic downturn in OECD countries will reduce actors’ incentive to undertake reforms.
