This paper explores the role of business in education, treatment and policymaking surrounding HIV/AIDS. It provides a snapshot of multinational corporation (MNC) programs that focus on AIDS outside the workplace, explores the "business case" for the MNC response to the epidemic and highlights some of the debates about the role of businesses in a national response. While the paper is focused on South Africa, it offers lessons that may be appropriate for businesses responding to AIDS in other countries.
