This paper discusses French multiculturalism and cultural integration in the context of the Islamization in France. The authors explore whether France has suffered an identity crisis due to the large stream of culturally different immigrants and whether cultural integration in the country has failed. The paper concludes that France indeed is faced by an identity crisis and that the crisis has mainly revolved around two points: the religious factor and the rise of communatarianism.
