This report analyzes the coherence and coordination dilemma in peacebuilding systems, with special reference to the UN integrated missions concept. The report focuses on the need to generate a clearly articulated overall peacebuilding strategy and the necessity to pursue the principle of local ownership. Finally, the author generates specific policy and practice recommendations for improving coherence and coordination. The report argues that without meaningful addressing, the shortcomings of peacebuilding systems will continue to suffer from poor rates of sustainability and success.
