This paper examines practical alternatives to preventive force, commenting on the US national security strategy (NSS) unveiled in September 2002. It looks at the implementation and failure of the US national security policy based on the experiences in Iraq and examines possible alternatives. It outlines a policy of preventive diplomacy that can serve as an alternative to the NSS 2002 doctrine of preventive war and analyzes how best to promote such an approach.
