This article assesses Mexican organized crime as the source of smuggling into the US. It argues that the Mexico-US border is more porous than ever. As organized criminal factions fight over control of the border, it is – according to the authors – inevitable that one gang will rise to the top. The border would then be controlled by one mega-cartel. The authors predict that this reality could emerge during the term of Mexican President Felipe Calderón.
