This paper analyzes state and development of Indonesia's Poso province one year after the 2007 police operations. It reviews the development that led to the surge in violence in the province, outlines the changes in radical activities since the police operations and introduces different initiatives for post-conflict reconciliation. It furthermore explores the role education plays in this process, the need to convince critics and the destructive impact of corruption. The paper concludes that there is ground for cautious optimism that Muslim-Christian and jihadist violence is a thing of the past.
