This publication examines Ukraine's potential to contribute to the US-led war on terrorism. The author argues that the country has the potential to become a force of peace and stability in its region and to contribute to the war on terror by developing its peacekeeping forces. In order to do so, it needs to transform its military so as to develop military professionalism, democratic political control and democratic professionalism. Good relations with its neighbor Russia are crucial for this transformation.
