This paper looks at the war in Iraq and the unstable political situation of the country. It also examines the stated US motives for the invasion, the vacuum created by the implementation of US strategies and the security plan for Baghdad, nicknamed the "surge," as a last chance to bring stability to Iraq. In addition, the author analyzes possible measures to alleviate the situation and discusses the consequences of a further deterioration in Iraq.
