This paper studies the lessons of the past to better prepare civilian and military leaders to meet the unconventional and asymmetric warfare challenges that face the US and the rest of the international community in the future. The author focuses on the lessons from Vietnam, other post-World War II conflicts and on the general concept of conflict.
