The four articles in this edition of the CTC Sentinel focus on 1) the fragility of peace and the threat from militant groupings on both sides of the sectarian divide in Northern Ireland; 2) how profit-minded suppliers within the vast array of transnational improvised explosive device (IED) networks could expand into weapons of mass destruction (WMD); 3) the threat posed by Islamic State-affiliated hackers and hacking groups, and 4) the evolution of the threat posed by the Islamic State in Somalia. The volume also features an interview with Edmund Fitton-Brown, Coordinator of the United Nations Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team concerning the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Da’esh), Al-Qaida, the Taliban, and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities.
