This brief looks at the security status of Afghanistan and argues that if the US is to maintain even a minimal level of stability in the country, it will have to reintroduce more armed forces into the country. The text’s author further suggests that this step is worth taking, even though the best the US can hope for in Afghanistan is that in the distant future the Taliban will tire of the ongoing struggle and sue for peace.
