This report explores the results of the isolation policy aimed at Hamas after it assumed full control of the Gaza Strip in June 2007 and looks at the available policy options and their implications. It outlines Gaza's growing isolation, introduces the basic traits of the Hamas regime and looks at dissent among the Palestinian political forces and within Hamas. The paper states that the purported goal of weakening Hamas' hold on Gaza is nowhere near fulfillment, yet, the policy increases the population's dependence on its rulers.
