This paper explores policies and practices for the welcoming and integration of immigrants in different countries. The authors analyze immigration policies in Canada, Germany, France and the Netherlands and look for common elements. The paper argues that despite the peculiarities of each country, an exploration of these cases will generate conclusions that can be applied to immigration policy worldwide.
