This paper provides an overview over the study of inequality by examining two sets of literature: access to natural resources and natural resource management. The author discusses theories of access and entitlement, different conceptual approaches to institutions, and new steps to understanding inequality in access to natural resources. Then she looks at management approaches to natural resources. Again three approaches are discussed: community-based natural resource management, decentralization and right-based frameworks.
