This publication discusses ways for the EU to engage with the Central Asian countries. The authors examine relations between the EU and the former Soviet states of Central Asia and track the evolution of regional political development since the early 1990s. The publication discusses the options for the EU in terms of the character of the engagement that it should pursue through its Central Asia strategy.
