This brief discusses the reasons for strategically viewing Middle East and South Asia as one coherent region. In particular, it explores the policy significance of such an assessment for Australia. The author argues that Australia should view the two regions as one strategic entity and that it should ensure that the links between the regions are understood and factored into its strategic, political and economic analysis and policy development.
