This paper first outlines some general characteristics of the Persian Gulf region, including natural resources, trade relations and political stability. The authors then provide a detailed country-by-country account of Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia and make recommendations about EU policies toward the region as a whole as well as the individual regional actors.
