This analysis draws a comparison between the 2008 food crisis and the one of 1973-74. The author argues that, like in the 1970s, at the root of rising food prices in 2008 are the high cost of energy, and poverty and marginalization. If nothing is done now, the food crisis will be a marker for much more serious crises, according to the author.
