This paper reviews a number of different efforts taken to tackle the trade in 'blood diamonds' that fuels conflict in Côte d’Ivoire. The author makes clear that blood diamonds finance the military as well as warlords and rebels and that smuggling takes place between Côte d’Ivoire and its regional neighbors. A number of policy prescriptions to members of the Kimberley Process is also provided.
