This paper examines UK foreign policy since 1997. It explains that the three main motifs of foreign policy during the premiership of former prime minister Tony Blair were an activist philosophy of "interventionism," a strong alliance with the US and a commitment to placing the UK at the heart of Europe. According to the authors, there were also important reforms to the strategic and institutional frameworks for the formulation and delivery of foreign policy between 1997 and 2007. Finally, they look at what has changed since Gordon Brown was elected prime minister in 2007.
