This article discusses China's accession to the World Trade Organization and the possible consequences on the competitiveness of Southeast Asian industrial exports. The authors examines whether Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand would be able to de-industrialize or whether there would be sufficient lucrative niches within the manufacturing production chains that the four countries could specialize in.
