On 23 June 2016, the Atlantic Council conducted a crisis simulation that gauged how different levels of US engagement in the Middle East would impact 1) its ability to respond to crises in the area, and 2) the behavior of key regional and international actors. As part of its analysis, the paper delves into the objectives, the design and the results of the simulation and how the latter could help shape the incoming 2017 US presidential administration's Middle East policy.
