This brief explores the “geopolitical vexation” that India feels in relation to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Beyond its “cartographic assertion,” which New Delhi reinforced in the 2016 Information Regulations Bill, the brief’s author argues India should 1) jettison its incoherent and inconsistent PoK policies, which have spanned decades, and 2) navigate a firm and consistent course that reshapes domestic and external discourses on PoK.
