This article explores the climate adaptation strategies of four major cities that are facing historic floods on a more frequent basis: London, Rotterdam, New York and Miami. Based on these case studies, the authors also 1) identify best practices with regard to adaptation investments; and 2) provide local policy and planning recommendations for municipal governments on how to enhance adaptation strategies for flood management.
