This text analyzes 1) the impact of Ukraine’s blockades on separatist territories in Eastern Donbas, and 2) Vladimir Putin’s decision to recognize the personal identity documents issued by these territories. In the case of the blockades, the text’s author focuses on how they have impacted the price of coal and concludes that they represent yet another blow to the Minsk peace process.
