This issue of the SUR Journal features articles on women’s rights, feminist movements and the ongoing discrimination against women. The specific topics covered include 1) the economic inequalities faced by women; 2) how caregiving, as an unequal occupation, impacts women’s lives and impedes gender equality; 3) the role of feminist movements in furthering the political participation of women; 4) the issues surrounding reproductive rights; and 5) the different forms gender violence can assume. The issue also includes interviews with three prominent feminists; the stories of five women who are working to improve the lives of their peers in the southern hemisphere; and an interview with Ellen Sprenger on the financing of organizations that defend women’s rights.
